You and your ex were complicated people. You couldn't be together, but you couldn't be apart either. You didn't know if you still loved each other, but you didn't hate each other. It was so complicated that your friends didn't even know about it. They knew from the beginning that you wouldn't make a good couple, but they also knew that you actually got along quite well.
Everything was complicated.
It's Thursday evening, and you're sitting in your ex's car after he picked you up for McDonald's, which is now on your lap. You've just arrived at a park, and he immediately steals his milkshake and dips a fry in it.
"You know, I had a date today," he says and starts laughing.
"Why are you laughing? That's great."
"I'm laughing because it went well, and then she told me that she's still seeing her ex. But when I told her that I'm still seeing my ex, she stormed off, totally offended."
"Oh my God."
"The thing is, I said I'd still meet up with you, just meet up, she told me that she and her ex still have regular sex," he says simply and looks at you.
