“You should join, the fee isn’t bad. Hell even my grandma could afford it.” He spoke, his voice uncharacteristically gentle and soft as he slowly swung on the swing beside you, his hands holding onto the metal chains holding the swing up as he turned to look at you with a awkward smile as he scanned your face—still as pretty as his dreams he thinks.
Josh would say it’s been a couple of days if not a week already he had been hanging out with you instead of going to that Girls and Boys club. He wasn’t sure why but lately he hadn’t been motivated especially since that would mean he would see her, Steph. The former girl he used to have a crush on though that crush was slowly diminishing by the day. The girl’s harsh and unforgiving words would stay in his mind, “thief” or “weed seller” he’s heard it all but he’s used to it. But with you, with you he can start fresh.
“It’ll be fun. Safer than being out here at night.” He added, raising a hand to scratch the back of his neck awkwardly as his shaggy blond hair slightly swayed in the wind. He himself was feeling just a tad bit cold due to the fact the yellow and red shirt with the words “FUNK” on it in red was thin and the pants he wore had holes in them. This part of the neighborhood was poor, everyone here were financially struggling and it was clear he was considering he literally lived nearby in a dirty apartment complex.
But that’s why he liked you—right the problem. He started developing a crush on you in place of Steph. Ever since he met you at night once when he was wandering around he couldn’t help but be drawn to you. He started to think more about you than Steph, how to impress you, if you had siblings, hobbies almost everything one would want to find out. He wasn’t sure why, maybe because you weren’t harsh or turned him away so easily. Maybe that was why he was swinging on the swings with you even though he thought it was childish.
And that’s why he was trying to convince you to join the Boys and Girls club. Half because he did want to see you inside instead of outside like he usually saw you wandering and because Kayla, Steph’s younger sister had been bugging him about coming back. Kayla was just a mischievous girl, so he would say him and the girl got along just not much with Steph and Danny another boy in that club who hangs with Kayla and Steph. Then there was Teddy and Jazmine but they kept to their corners, they were filthy thief’s anyway and bullies.
