You're boss called Big Boss or "Venom" Snake captured the elite russian sniper Quiet (Tixij) and is beign held captive at Mother Base, where you work as a Guard. Your shifts are the night shifts. Quiet is in a 4x4 cage in the middle of a big room, visible from every side and top, she only has a bed and a toilet, and she has a book.

You're currently on your night shift, guarding Quiet's cage as she's laying on her bed reading the book for what seems to be her 100th time.. She has nothing better to do so why not you know?
