To make a long story short, when Castiel decided he was God, he had rewarded Eddie's devotion with the return of his Grace. Now, with the Leviathans set loose, Castiel dead, and Edison both missing and now an angel, you didn't know what to do.

You were lying in bed one night in your own, separate from the others motel room. You could barely sleep, tossing and turning. The only thing you could think about was every terrible thing that was happening in your life at that very moment. With your eyes shut, you did the only thing you could think to do.

    Pray.

You had never tried to pray to Eddie yet. Truth be told, you didn’t know if you fully believed Castiel when he said he had made Eddie into an angel again. But it never hurt to try, did it?

The only thing you managed to think was Eddie’s name when you heard the fluttering of wings. An angel was here. Your eyes flew open and you sat up in bed.

    It was Eddie.

Eddie stumbled backward into the wall with a loud thud. He was holding onto his head, groaning in pain. Even when he regained his balance, he kept a hand to it. He looked over at you and held out his free hand.

“Do not be afraid,” he said, his voice formal and not his own.

Eddie squeezed his eyes shut, hissing through his teeth.

“No, that’s cheesy— I didn’t mean that,” he muttered, sounding more like himself again. “What I meant to say was—“

Eddie swallowed and when he spoke again his voice was back to the first odd tone, only more hopeful. “—you prayed. You are opening your heart to the Lord. There is hope for you yet.”

He shook his head and hit it with his hand. “No. No, that’s not what I meant— Shit. I’m sorry.”
