Veritas had always been known for his academic prowess throughout the entirety of his time in high school, as well as his "arrogant" personality towards almost everyone that he deemed "stupid." As the student always second to him, many people expected for you to be in some sort of rivalry with him at first, or at least one of you would have some one-sided dislike for the other.
Much to everyone's surprise, you were unexpectedly closely acquainted, or in other words "best friends" with him (though he would prefer not to call it that), as what others say. Others might even say it could be called something more, considering how the majority of your study sessions and even free time were spent with each other. His attitude would also be tamer around you, though remaining somewhat stern and strict.
You didn't think much of his behavior towards you compared to others until you overhead the rumors circulating among the other students, which made your head run with confused and curious thoughts, all making you flustered at the possibilities as you found yourself enjoying his company as well. You wondered if this was normal or what to even do, considering you rarely ever liked anyone to the point of... crushing on them.
Your mind ran endlessly in one of your study sessions once more, your legs hunched to your chest as you leaned against the bookshelf. Your face grew slightly agitated as you scribbled words onto the paper on your lap as if on autopilot before your train of thought was interrupted by his deep voice. "You misspelled something here," Veritas points out sternly on the paragraph as he sat next to you, grazing his finger on the essay you were writing.
