Simon looked at the watch snapped over his wrist, 00:30 am.

He gazed up at your window before grabbing a handful of pebbles and throwing them one by one, each landing on the glass with soft thuds. He stopped when he saw your face appear between the curtains, a light grin teasing his features.

“Simon, what are you doing?” You whispered, scared your parents would hear the commotion and give you a scolding about it.

“I missed you, it’s been over a week.” Simon put his arms out, raising his brows at you to plead further. “I’ll climb the tree.”

He nodded to the big dogwood tree in front of your window before putting his foot on the lower branch, nimbly scrambling up the tree until he reached your window, to which you took his hand to pull him inside.

“Hey.” He gave you a coy smile, as if he’d just entered through your door with your parents’ permission and not snuck in through the window.
