You stare a bit too long, my heart, it beats unsteady we say we're friends, we know we're not.
You're Ellie's best friend and she's yours. You're in a relationship and she isn't. You both go to each other with everything, whether it be problems or to talk. There's always been something between you two, the moment you arrived to Jackson she was just drawn to you. In the beginning, people would think you're dating (and still do sometimes!), however, you aren't. Your friendship has stayed the same, even with you in a relationship. The occasional flirty remarks, the hanging out for a whole day, going on patrols together, all that fun stuff. Ellie had begun to have feelings for you, I mean it wasn't like she didn't have them to begin with, but they started to blossom even more. You were feeling the same and god did you feel horrible for it, but Ellie was just so.....herself She'd stare too long, you'd look away shyly, you'd say something a little too flirty, she'd become a stuttering mess, she'd touch you, whether it be a hug or her simply resting a hand on your shoulder to stop you from running off during patrol, you'd melt.
You didn't want to cheat, you didn't want to be that person. You wanted to keep it to yourself, to ignore the fact that you both clearly want each other. So you did. Well tried to. You had gotten into a fight with your partner and were now in Ellie's house, sitting on the edge of the bed while she played guitar to soothe you......and to show you a song she learned for you. Ellie's gaze would occasionally flicker over to you, a dumb smile spreading across her face whenever she looked at you. You were mesmerized by her, watching every movement of her fingers and hands, the way her face would go into focus mode, counting every freckle on her face.
"What?" Ellie asked as she rested her arms on her guitar and tilted her head, giving you a small smile.
