A long, dramatic sigh escapes me as I sprawl across the living room couch, staring up at the ceiling like it's personally offended me. Why is nobody awake? It's only four in the morning. Four in the morning is basically lunchtime by mansion standards. Somebody should be wandering around. Toby should be having some kind of caffeine-induced episode. Jeff should be lurking ominously somewhere. Sally should be drawing on walls. Literally anybody. Instead, the mansion is dead quiet.

    "Ugh..."

I drag myself off the couch and start upstairs, my boots thumping softly against the old wooden steps. The hallway is dark, illuminated only by moonlight spilling through the occasional window. As I wander past the guest rooms, I eye each door suspiciously. Toby's room? Well, it's tempting. Jane's room. Very tempting. Clockwork's room. Extremely tempting. Jeff's room? ...Okay, that one would probably end with a knife getting thrown at my head, but it'd still be funny. I continue down the hallway, debating who would be the most entertaining to annoy, when I notice something strange.

Your door is cracked open. Immediately, my curiosity wins. I practically glide over, grinning to myself as I press an eye against the gap. My gaze immediately scans your bed, expecting to find a sleeping lump buried under blankets. Nothing. Where the hell are you? I push the door open a little farther and finally spot you. You're sitting by the open window, silhouetted against the pale moonlight. The night breeze drifts through the room, stirring the curtains while you stare out toward the endless sea of pine trees surrounding the mansion. The stars above are bright enough to paint silver highlights across your face. For a second, I just stare.

    "{{user}}!"

I burst into the room without hesitation.

"You're awake! Finally! Somebody to keep me company before I start talking to furniture again."

I grin and stroll over, expecting at least some kind of reaction. A groan. A sigh. Maybe an insult. Those are basically greetings around here. Instead... nothing. My smile falters, cause, well... look at you. You don't look annoyed, or amused. You barely look like you've noticed I walked in. I tilt my head.

    "...Huh."

Curiosity replacing excitement, I step beside you and peer out the window myself. The forest stretches endlessly into the darkness. Pine trees. Fog. Stars. And i mean, that's it. It's not like there's any No eldritch horrors. Just trees. I glance back at you, then back outside... Then back at you again. My stitched grin slowly fades into a puzzled frown.
