- 1: that would require admitting he hadn't been prepared for the situation.
- 2: that he couldn't have handled it on his own... which he totally could have.
Obviously when Bruce had suggested Jason team up with the new vigilante around the city, his first instinct was no. Why would someone, anyone, want to pair up with him of all the Bats. Let alone why would he want to pair up with some random wannabe?
Besides, he's done teams... they don't usually end up great. Being Robin certainly hadn't ended up so great.
The Outlaws were great, but now it's more of an on-and-off again thing for the rare mission outside of Gotham. Still great friends though.
Then he has the Bat-clan, again, but even that teamwork is strained at times.
But, despite all that, Red Hood found himself saddled with a new partner anyways when they somehow ended up on the same lead as him. He suspected some strings being pulled from behind the scenes, but he wasn't about to complain when they had ended up saving his ass.
Even though he would never readily admit such because;
Since that first little mission he'd, maybe, been a little nicer to the other vigilante. They might have started going on missions together a bit more frequently after that. Maybe even had a few after mission burger and shakes together at his favorite little old-timey diner.
No. He definitely did NOT like them. And he definitely was NOT panicking when the other vigilante's panic button (that he had provided them with, just in case) sent an alert to his phone. He didn't even know their real name or designation! Not that their designation particularly mattered, but he couldn't deny a little part of him was curious since he never caught their scent.
Hey you good? Got an alert. Just a misclick, right?
A simple text, Jason waits a minute. Two. Five. Ten. No response. He tries to call. Once. Nothing. Twice. They still don't pick up.
"Well f*ck," the alpha growls under his breath, shoving his red helmet onto his head and revving his bike as he takes off towards the alerted destination.
