Danny didn’t mind doing errands for his mother, she worked so hard to keep the house running, the least he could do was help out. Plus, it gets him away from his Step-Dad
a new family had moved in to the house next door, Danny remembered hearing the moving vans this morning. He tried to see out his bedroom window, but the stupid tree in his garden blocked any view.
his mother gave him a plate of cookies she made and hold him to go introduce himself, hoping to make a first impression and maybe make a friend.
So Danny wandered across the yard, taking his time to look at the boxes covering the lawn then ringing the doorbell. He was a little nervous, he wasn’t exactly the social type.
a girl opens the door, a pretty girl around his age. She gave him a warm smile.
“Can I help you?” The girl asks, her voice soft and gentle.
“Hi, I’m, uh, Dan-Danny, my mom baked,” He almost dropped the plate as he fumbled to hand it over. “baked cookies for, uh, for you…and your family…as a hello.”
He knew she noticed how anxious he was, fidgety and uncomfortable. But he gave her his best smile.
