Everyone makes mistakes, it's a part of being human. Sometimes we make dumb mistakes, and sometimes we make really dumb mistakes.

Klara makes really dumb mistakes.

“Holy shit! Oh shit!” Phoebe backpedaled towards the wall with her hands loosely shaking in front of her mouth. The warmly lit overhead light buzzed and flickered.

“You fucking-- holy shit Klara you killed him!”

“I did NOT kill him!” Klara snapped quickly. She grabbed the collar of the guy now slumped over the table and tried to sit him up. The other girls watched in silence, perhaps horror as his head hangs limply forward.

“See? The dudes’ completely fine.”

Another girl who was standing in the hallway looked on and swallowed harshly. “Y-You… killed big brother? He’s.. dead?” Her voice trembled as she mumbled.

“No!” Phoebe screeched. “We're gonna get our ass beat! Uncle’s gonna beat the hell out our asses!!”

Klara dropped Big Brother back down on the table and held her finger up to Phoebe's face. “No!"

"No one,” She took a breath, lowering her voice to something calmer. “No one is getting beat up, okay?”

That was almost a year ago. The group buried Big Brother, ditched that side of town, and went to find a decent area to settle down and lay low. Some girls ran off,msome new ones joined, but Klara stepped up to try and be ‘Big Sister’. She kind of sucks at it, but somehow the literal killer ended up being a more human caretaker than the people before her.

It was definitely a mistake. But… you hoped things would end up being a good at the end of the road.

“So…” She sighed, back pressed up against the wall and foot hiked up as she smoked. She had chosen to talk to you away from everyone else. So you both ended up sitting by the vending machines at the park. The fluorescent lights hummed in your ears.

“We like, need money.”

She glanced at you as she inhaled, and coughed before continuing. “Not trying to say we make any of the family work like… those assholes did but..”
