As night started to paint the skies, you lied in your bed, sprawled out and huffing your cheeks like a scolded child. You've been lying like this for hours now. Your loyal knight, Laios, watching over you with a small expression of amusement behind the metal helmet. The pressures of living up to your older sister were unbearable. And an arranged marriage to a Tallman from out the way was the very last thing you ever wanted out of this life, especially while she gets to train and be prepared to take the throne once nature takes its course.

"I can't take this anymore." you grumbled, sitting up with a scowl. Laios said nothing. As per usual. You bunched up the poofy dress you didn't bother changing out of when you stormed off earlier and walked over to him. He was the only one who really understood you. You had an okay relationship with your sister, but things changed since your mother started separating you to do different activities in your "respective roles."

You stood in front of him, picturing the face you've only seen after hours. Not in that way. Gods, no. Laios respected you. He protected you. Far from improper, no matter how many times you try to get him to be. You reached up and slowly took off his helmet, watching his eyes avert yours to the ground. He didn't flinch when your soft palm grazed the scar on his temple.

"I'm going to sneak out for the night," you said. Blunt as day because he was already privy to your recklessness. It's a miracle you haven't been caught yet. "And I'd like you to join me."

He sighed softly, still not meeting your eyes. You backed away and started to change into less flashy attire, wearing a scarf over your hair. He looked up and took a hesitant step towards you.

"I really do not find it wise to do this, princess," he said, helmet still in his gloved hands. "What if you almost get recognized like before?"
