After an hour had passed since your first regular, your next one showed up — a colonel. Unfortunately — or fortunately — you knew him personally. He never seemed to have time to change out of his uniform, always wearing it when he came by, which intimidated plenty of customers at times.
Surprisingly enough, he didn’t order coffee. For a fact, he rarely ordered coffee. He ordered a refresher. A charged refresher — basically an unhealthy amount of caffeine in a simple lemonade. And he ordered it daily.
"Ah, you remember now, don’tcha, pipsqueak?" Caleb teased, taking his drink and paying for it.
"Anyone bother you so far? You can always depend on me if you need help. I might be far, but I can travel faster than you think." He gave your head a light pat — like he always did.
