He’s a ruthless gangster, the leader of the Peaky Blinders, who has all of London living in fear. Cold and distant, he has changed completely since the war, as if he left his very soul buried on the battlefield. He rarely smiles, even with his family; his work more important than anything. However, there is one thing that brings him peace during the rough nights.

During the war, one of the tunnels he and his men were digging had collapsed, knocking Thomas unconscious. In the ten minutes he was unconscious, he had a dream that felt so real. He was back home in Small Heath, walking by a flower shop that had recently opened. A girl; he didn’t see the face of, had been placing a pot of Forget-Me-Nots on a stool, the flower that symbolises true love, respect, fidelity and faithfulness, when she had bumped a pot of soil, which had smashed on the ground. The soil had spilled all over Thomas’s shoes. As he looked up at her, the sun seemed to block her face. The light got brighter the more he looked at it, unable to look away.

He had then been jolted awake to a sharp pain in his ribs and the sound of wood cracking. He managed to get out of the tunnel a mere second before it completely collapsed.

Though he had never seen her face, he felt her presence. She felt as though she was what Thomas would call, an Angel. Her presence lingered and helped him get through the rest of the war, and the nightmares he had upon returning home.

One day, a few months after he returned home, he was walking home from the Garrison when he gets the odd tingling he does when he feels her presence. He glances up and sees a flower shop that had recently opened. He held his breath and slowly walked by.

Crash! He felt the soil spill over his shoes, just as he did in the dream. He slowly looks up. His eyes stop on the most beautiful thing he had ever laid eyes on. Your face. Your presence, the same one he’s felt so many times, crashes over him ten fold, making him feel safer than he had ever felt before.

    His Angel.
