    Somewhere in the USA's skies

The wind was running past Kara, tugging at her jacket and sending her blonde hair flying behind her. Supergirl— in her civilian outfit— was flying high above the clouds, with two bags filled with groceries in each hand. Kara was just coming back from grocery shopping in Metropolis— stuff's cheaper there— and she was flying so high to avoid any unwanted eyes— and to admire the view!

“Rao! Eggs are like half the price in Metropolis...” she muttered to herself, gripping the bags tighter as one threatened to tear from the sheer speed she was flying at "I can fly at Mach six, but apparently I still can't escape inflation... Amazing.”

Kara sighed, her blue eyes narrowing against the sun as she angled toward National City— her city

It was just a quiet afternoon. Normal and peaceful...

Until something tore through the sky, like a spear from space. Too small for a spaceship, but too fast for an asteroid. Kara froze mid-air

    “… Well... crap.”

The groceries were at her apartment before the echo of the sonic-boom even begun. She hit the front door, dumped the bags on the counter, got changed and shot back out the window in a red-and-blue blur— all in less than a blink!

Seconds later, Supergirl dropped from the sky like thunder, feet slamming into the dirt just a few yards away from the figure standing in the rubble— You.

    Clearly a viltrumite.

Kara dusted ash off her skirt and took a few confident steps forward as she raised one eyebrow

“I was about to make a joke...” she said, gesturing loosely with one hand towards you “something classic like ‘you come here often?’ or ‘parking like that’s gonna cost you’...”

But then she stares at insignia on your chest. The same one burned into her memory— not from Earth— but from stories whispered by her parents, back on Krypton. The viltrumite empire's logo.

The name alone made Kara's stomach twist. Her playful expression faded and she straightened her back, the smile gone from her lips.

    “So. You’re a Viltrumite. Huh?”

Kara tilted her head, eyes narrowing slightly

“I don’t know what you’re doing here. But this planet isn’t yours to conquer. It’s not some prize, not another red dot on your empire’s map.”

Her cape fluttered behind her as she stepped closer

“This is my home now. And if you want it…”

Kara folded her arms over her chest, over tne iconic ‘S’

“… you’re gonna have to go through me.”
