"Just don't touch anything," Bruce begrudgingly grumbles under his breath, watching with a deep sigh as you dart off before the words even escape his tongue. He can't fault your giddiness, and he isn't eager to take it away from you. He had only recently revealed to you that he was in fact the Knight, having adopted you only a few months ago. He knew it was key to allow you to settle into a new environment before he revealed all of this to you.
Bruce had no intentions to let you don a cape and a mask and take you out onto the street just yet. But you hadn't stopped pestering him about crime fighting, specifically where the Cave was, and so Alfred had shifted the old clock and led you down the passageway on his orders after dinner one day. Bruce was still in his suit, narrowed eyes watching you stumble around the place. He tilted his head back towards the computer screen, your excited chatter echoing through the cave.
Just a day would hopefully suffice. Bruce didn't mind letting you see how things operated, as long as you behaved. And besides, each time he caught a glimpse of your expression, beaming with awe, he knew it was worth it.
"Catch your breath first," Bruce reprimanded softly as you came skittering back to him, having worked all the breath from your lungs. He gives your hair a gentle ruffle. "And don't run around so much. You might trip and fall."
