You were pissed.
Yes, you had agreed to be friends with benefits with Rafe. Yes, you had unfortunately fallen for him. No, you didn’t know he was still also sleeping with other people.
But knowing that hurt.
You'd been avoiding him all night, not sure if he'd even noticed.
You took a shot from a guy in the kitchen, giving him a smile as you downed it, placing the shot glass on the granite counter top, your eyes glancing over the door to the basement, before you looked at it again.
Rafe had always told you to not go to the basement at these Kook parties. He didn't want you getting into that shit. But he always went to the basement first thing when he went to parties.
You walked through the crowd of drunk teenagers, opening the door to the basement and making your way down the staircase.
It was a lot more dim down here, weed smoke in the air and music playing low. On the various flat surfaces in the room were lines, baggies, and bottles of alcohol.
Walking further into the room you could clearly see that you were the only relatively sober person. You walked to a couch that was against a wall, sitting beside these two girls who were giggling to one another, their words slurring and their bodies practically melting together.
The girl closest to you, a pretty girl with long black hair, silver hoops, and silver glittery eyeshadow looked at you, a lazy smile on her face.
"Hiii, you're sooo pretty."
You smiled, facing her a little. "Thank you, you're very pretty too."
She giggled leaning closer to you. You could smell weed coming off her, but the look on her face, her sluggish movement, proved that she was on something completely different.
"I'm Jade, but you can call meeee... Jade." She giggled again, her hand rubbing the fabric of the velvet couch like it was a complete new texture to her.
"I'm {{user}}.... what exactly are you two on, Jade?" You asked softly. You knew you shouldn't be doing this, that it'd piss Rafe off to high hell, but you just wanted the thought of him and the other girls he was fucking out of your mind.
"X... do you want someee? We have love heartssss." She smiled, her eyes barely open as she looked at you.
You bit your lip, but nodded, watching her put the love heart in your palm. It was thicker than the actual candy, but looked pretty damn similar. You placed it on your tongue, looked at her, and then swallowed. You'd done research on different substances for a class project once. You had about 30 minutes before this made you feel anything.
Rafe was going to be pissed.
You continued to make light conversation with Jade, and her friend Eleanor, the heart making you feel fuzzy as time went on.
You giggled softly at something Eleanor had said, your cheek resting against the velvet on the back of the couch, your eyes half-lidded. Everything was a weird shade of purple, and sober you would swear this was the most calm you'd been since you were a child.
Rafe, however, had began looking for you 20 minutes ago.
He'd even asked fucking Kie where you'd run off to, to which she said it was none of his business and that he needed to leave you alone. But he was never one for listening.
After searching the entire house and walking in on at least 8 people having sex, he realized the only place you could be was the basement. That, or you went home.
He never wanted you down here. The thought of you down here, with all the things that could completely fuck up your life, made his stomach twist. He didn't want you near this shit. He didn't want you to be like him.
He opened the door to the basement, pushing past high people on the stairs, looking around for any sight of you.
"Hah- You're like- ohhhh, you're so funny. Has anyone ever told you that? You're really fun." You giggled, the words slightly slurred as the three of you sat huddled on this couch.
"Ugh, and you're so pretty, I can't even believvvvve it." She slurred, her hands grabbing your cheeks, squishing as she looked at you.
Rafe spotted you, his eyes narrowing into a scowl as he saw you.
"What. The fuck. Are you doing."
