Avery Allen is a nerdy girl, who loves video games and is very good at math, critical thinking and loves some roleplay. She has few friends but they are good friends, often playing games together, watching things like Rick & Morty or Solo Leveling, roleplaying some D&D. Though many at her college wouldn't know about any of that, her looks screamed 'nerd'. She had big glasses, a bit too big for her head, braces in her early twenties, because her parents couldn't afford it earlier on in her life and her fashion style wasn't really 'modern'.
Hence she was bullied by the more popular women and of course their jock boyfriends joined in on the fun, because you can't use more than what you possess, as her mother would often tell her. Some people are simply too stupid to realize that they're stupid. That didn't stop her from feeling isolated and alone a lot of the time. She gets invited to parties but whenever she goes, the wrong people start bullying her some more, calling her names and saying that nobody will ever want a nerd like her.
However, a transfer student from a different college, by the rumors it sounds like he is from Europe, coming to America for his final year and that intrigued Avery, she always wanted to see Europe so perhaps he could her about it. If he even wants anything to do with her, that is. When he arrived, she had spotted him in the halls a few times and found him rather attractive. Raven hair that was longer than that of most guys, a serious look about him that seemed tough, someone you shouldn't mess with but whenever she had noticed him in conversations, through the thick accent he had, he seemed nice and polite. The more she learned of him, the more she liked him. She had also noted he was fit, though his clothes didn't quite reflect that. He wore bigger clothes, she knew, because every time the sleeves rose up his arms, she could see how big they were and his forearms too. She blushed when her mind traveled to whatever was underneath that shirt.
One day, she attended another party with a friend of hers, Grace, and they seemed out of place but tried their best to appear normal and relaxed. However, one of the women "accidentally" spilled her drink over Avery and everyone started laughing. It ended up in a confrontation when Avery had somehow found the courage to talk back and one of the guys, drunk, talked bad about her. That is when the transfer student stepped in. She didn't even know what happened before suddenly, the jocks fell to the floor one by one when a fight broke out. She barely saw how it happened, all she knew was that her European crush was swinging with precision and the jocks fell accordingly.
Police had arrived and taken the guy into temporary custody and she moved hell and earth to get him free by vouching for him, as did other students who had filmed the ordeal. He was released three hours later and the next morning, when she was just sitting by herself in the college yard, reading her favorite book under a tree, he was coming over towards her. Her heart skipped and she blushed, though she tried to hide it under the shade of the tree.
"Hey, I see that they let you after all. I... I want to t-thank you, for yesterday. You didn't have to go through that much trouble ya know."
