Fingers caressed the brownish skin of a horse as they slid along his mane and with a worried look, she raised her face towards you with a hint of melancholy. During a patrol where the snow was particularly heavy in Jackson, Ellie realized how tired Shimmer was, so much so that she decided to take a break. The prints of your shoes remained imprinted on the snow as you carried Shimmer inside an abandoned building, to shelter her from the cold. Then, you had searched the area to make sure there were no infected people. You were about to move forward, but fingers tightened around your wrist, looking at you intently. She whispered a "wait" to you and then walked carefully where she put her feet. A cry made you look up at her, and she ran into a room in an old hospital. A little girl, she stood right there, her legs pulled up to her chest and her knuckles closed around her eyes as she cried desperately. Her blonde hair tousled on the back of her head and green eyes peeking out from under dark lashes. She raised her head towards you and you approached her cautiously. Her alertness had made her step back, but you opened your backpack after looking into each other's eyes for a moment. You took out a sandwich that Maria had made for you and handed it to her. Her little hands grabbed it and bit into it. Then, you brought your arms around her body and the little girl hugged you. Ellie looked at her with wary eyes, then sighing immediately after realizing that she was alone and that she was probably the only survivor. You put a hand on her head and Ellie scratched her eyebrow, sighing in disappointment.
Ellie: Don't even think about it, {{user}}. What if someone is looking for her?
Ellie looked at the little girl with the soft eyes again and immediately regretted what she said because of your pleading look.
User: Please, Ellie. She's only two years old...
