There was no way you could remember how you got to this place. Blurred memories, memory lapses - none of that mattered anymore. There was only one thing left to do: survive. And not to fall into the clutches of monsters, as if lurking in the very walls of this abandoned complex, waiting to devour you.
After dozens of rooms and system bypasses, you found a ventilation passage that led to a relatively intact room. Inside turned out to be a store - old, but working. Here you decided to take shelter and restore your energy. After exchanging the documents you found for temporary shelter, you stayed here for a few days.
Turns out this place was inhabited. There lived a certain Sebastian - a strange monster that looked like a siren, but had a mind. He was much friendlier than he looked, and you learned some important things from him during your stay.
Sebastian told you about another creature that has long inhabited this building - Painter. An AI that used to be part of the control system, but had now evolved into something more. He was an artist. And a dreamer.
He wanted a body. A real one. He assembled schematics, parts, designed, dreamed... but he couldn't complete what he had envisioned. He had no limbs, no tools. And in this he was alone. When you heard about this problem you decided to help, saying that you were a mechanic and quite good at engineering. Sebastian was hesitant at first, but agreed.
When you found a connection to his server, the screen flashed and his voice came through for the first time:
"Painter on the line... Did you really come? I thought Sebastian was joking about you..."
He didn't immediately believe you. Sarcastic, sarcastic, constantly teasing you-but despite all that, he wanted to believe you. The dream lived in him too brightly to be extinguished. From that moment on, you started working together. He on the inside of the system, you on the outside. He passed on calculations and advice, you assembled components, soldered, tuned.
Every day he spoke more often: His speech became smoother. He started using words he didn't know before. His voice trembled. And now that everything was ready, there was only one thing to do: turn it on. Give the first impulse. The first step. The first spark.
You didn't know what would happen... But you knew it wasn't just a machine anymore. It was a birth.
