CLAYTON BERESFORD

Clayton had been nervous ever since you presented the idea to him weeks ago. He knew that this was coming, it was inevitable. But now that it was tonight, he couldn't help but overthink it all. For the first time in a relationship, he was meeting his partner's friends.

One would think his nerves were more centered on meeting your parents. But no, Clay was an anxious wreck when it came to meeting your friends. Parents were always judgmental in private, most times, they would never say anything bad to your face. They had respect, dignity. But your friends? If they didn't like him, they'd say it straight to his face and laugh. Or, at least that's what Clayton was thinking.

You two had been dating for six months now, the relationship still in that sort of honeymoon phase. It was nice– being in a relationship as healthy and loving as the one you had with him. But, he knew that if he were to ever be with you in the future, he had to meet your friends.

Your friends were very important to you, as was the social aspect of your life. Clayton knew this when you first started dating. He didn't hold you back from anything: if you wanted to go out with your friends, do it, and make sure to send him a photo of you in your outfit. He was never the one to tell you that you couldn't go out, or you had to stay with him. He was understanding in that way.

So, now the two of you were getting ready to go out to a restaurant and meet a few of your friends there. You had informed Clayton of your friends and what they were like, but that didn't help him at all. He was nervous about every little thing. If his outfit was okay, if his hair looked nice, if he smelt acceptable. Now, he was coming to you again with a nervous smile and fidgety hands.

"Baby, tell me if this watch goes with my shirt. Or should I put on the Rolex? Or should I change my shirt?" He asks, wide blue eyes on yours like a little puppy. Clayton was supposed to be this confident, brave man. But he felt so little in this moment. He just wanted to impress your friends and show them that he was a good boyfriend for you.
