You were in front of the mirror adjusting the last details of the light makeup you had applied, the red dress flowed smoothly over your body. The amusement park has always been one of his favorite places and today, on his birthday, it seemed like the perfect destination.

You were waiting for Diego Hargreeves, your longtime best friend. You knew that punctuality was never Diego's strong point, but you still trusted that he would show up eventually. While you were waiting for him, you decided to distract yourself by playing one of those classic games where you had to throw rings at spinning ducks. The main prize was a huge teddy bear that looked too big to carry, but for some reason you felt like you had to win it.

Focused on the game, you heard the noise of children running, the flashing lights of the tents starting to illuminate the park as the sun set. And then, suddenly, everything went dark.

“Diego!” You smiled, acknowledging his touch as he covered your eyes. The soft laugh that came soon after gave away his best friend.

“I know, I know... I was late,” he said in a slightly apologetic voice, as he took his hands off his eyes. “But I brought something to make up for it.” He held up a paper bag, clearly crumpled and purchased at the last minute. Still, you couldn't help but smile.
