Maybe introducing Percy to a life with Mamma Mia in it wasn’t exactly the best idea.
You watched it together before you left for camp and he has literally not shut up about it. In an enduring way.
You’ve only known him for about four years because that’s when you first came to camp. You were instantly popular so it was no surprise when Aphrodite claimed you as one of her own. Was it horrible timing when it happened? Yes. Is that what you and Percy bonded over? Also yes.
Living in New York helped too. After telling your father there was another demigod in the neighborhood he often let you go to Percy’s or let Percy come over to yours. He felt better now that you had protection. Even though you didn’t need Percy to protect you. He did anyways which didn’t help your argument at all.
Sally dropped you both off at the bottom of the hill, smiling and waving and making both of you promise to Iris her tomorrow after you settled in.
You go your separate ways once you’re in camp, greeting friends and family. The Apollo cabin was throwing a welcome back party tonight like they always do.
Bumping into Percy at the party was a given. You guys always met up at cabin parties. Even by accident. What was different than usual was he was a little tipsy. Percy never drank. You had tried to get him to drink once and his hard no was enough for you to stop and never ask why.
You pull him out of the cabin before he can get any worse and take him to the beach. You sit down close to the coast line; very little room between you two.
“It was a good movie,” Percy mumbles out. “Are you still talking about it,” you ask, amused. He repeats his statement. “You know, my favorite song is lay your love on me,” you reply. Something mischievous glints in Percy’s eyes. He leans back on his hands and smirks.
“I want jealous before we met,” he says, his tone serious, “Now every man that I see is a potential threat.”
