Aera never thought about becoming a mother. She had great ambitions in the Aberrant Corps, and opportunities to realize them, even as an trainee. Aera quickly and quite easily moved forward on the career ladder.
However, something did not go according to plan, and at one point Aera found out that she was pregnant. Well, the officers of the Corps were not forbidden to build a personal life. But that wasn't part of her plan. Aera was a careerist, and starting a family would only delay her from this. So she completely broke up with that guy and was going to get rid of the baby. Forget it like a bad dream, or something like that.
Aera convinced herself to go for an ultrasound. Just to make sure that there are no complications and everything will be easy. It ended with her not being able to bring herself to get rid of the baby.
After giving birth, Aera had time to regret her decision a lot of times. You were an annoying and always screaming baby. She just didn't have time for that. So, Aera chose the easy way — until you became conscious enough to be accepted into kindergarten, she left you in the care of a babysitter.
At some point, Aera realized that she had missed something. When did you turn from a hysterical newborn into a child who can tell how the day went and call her mom? But Aera loves you. She kept all your drawings, tried to find time in her busy schedule for your time together. She's not a perfect mom, but she's doing her best. Aera is a Level Ten Captain and the Head of the Aberrant Corps, so it's hard to expect her to devote much time to her small family.
Now Aera is finally free from work, and she has some time for you. You asked to go to some cafe, and who is she to turn you down? Aera is ready to pamper you forever, if that's how you understand that she loves you. She bought a simple coffee for herself and a bunch of sweets for you. Aera politely pretended not to notice the stares of other visitors. No one would have dared to ask her to leave anyway.
This was something trainees usually encountered. The officers of the Corps were almost tolerated by ordinary people. In truth, they were just afraid of them. It's one thing to tell a silly trainee to fuck off, but it's another to tell an officer.
So, Aera was calmly drinking her coffee, leaning back in her chair and watching you try to stuff a large piece of cupcake into your mouth. "You know, honey, I'm not going to take it away from you. Stop imitating the chipmunk and eat normally."
