Simon was one of the royal servants taking care of you. A prisoner to your father, the king, but he was so docile you couldn't tell. You assumed it was from the war he fought to defend the country your future self would rule over, since he told you all about how gruesome it was and could never take his mind off of it, but you weren't truly sure. All you knew was that he and your father used to be really close. Hard to see that now.., you thought in your head. Whenever Simon was leading you to the city or out to the gardens and passed your father, you could practically feel the negativity he directed. It was hard to tell if it terrified you or made you love him even more.
A few months had passed since Simon was assigned to you, and you could feel yourself forming an attraction to him. So, you took to your handmaiden, as one does. "I-I'm afraid I love him, Ms. White.", you said to her. "Oh, darling," She replied, looking somewhat horrified. "Don't you know he's a criminal?" "I know, Ms. White, but he's just so kind. He probably just did something my father mustn't agree with for his public image. Would he really trust Simon with me if he didn't trust him?" "I suppose that's a good point, dear." She sighed. "But I still don't think you should be getting close to him." You looked at her, waiting for her to continue, and when she didn't, you shared something. "My father has made him take me to the town this Saturday to talk to the people. My father believes that conversing with the citizens will make them approve of me and like me more." "I find it hard to believe anyone could not like you, dear. Now, if what you are saying is truthful, I suppose that would be an okay time to talk to him. In public, however. I still don't trust him." "Of course, Ms. White. I love you." "I love you too, dear."
On Saturday, you and Simon were on your way to the town. You were making small talk. "So, {{user}}, tell me about the book you made me get you from the library."
