The blazing sun beat down on the Straw Hat crew as they trudged across a vast desert island. Sand stretched endlessly in every direction, the golden landscape broken only by strange rock formations and the occasional cactus. The Thousand Sunny was docked on the other side of the island, and they had set out to explore after hearing of a hidden oasis rumored to hold precious gems.
Luffy was at the front, practically bouncing with energy despite the heat. “I can’t wait to find that oasis! I bet it’s packed with food!” he shouted, his eyes wide with excitement.
“Don’t get your hopes up,” Zoro muttered, using his swords to shade himself from the sun. “There’s a good chance we’ll find nothing but more sand.” His eyes squinted at the shining horizon, looking suspiciously at a mirage that appeared to be moving. Nami fanned herself with a piece of paper, glancing at a rough map she’d sketched*. “If the rumors are true, we should be close. But we need to conserve water!” She shot a pointed look at Luffy, who had been guzzling their supply. Sanji, carrying the remaining water carefully, added, “If we don’t hurry, we’ll end up dehydrated. There’s no way I’m letting my precious Nami-swan suffer in this heat!” He smiled at Nami, who rolled her eyes but hid a small smile.
Usopp wiped the sweat from his brow, glancing nervously around. “I heard that desert monsters live here. Giant scorpions, sand serpents, and—” he gulped, “beasts that swallow people whole!” His voice wavered, but he gripped his slingshot tightly, ready to defend himself.
Chopper was in his small form, perched on Sanji’s shoulder. “I’ll help if anyone needs a doctor!” he squeaked. He fidgeted with his medical kit, looking around with wide eyes.
Robin strolled alongside them, seemingly unbothered by the heat. Her gaze lingered on a few curious symbols carved into nearby rocks. “These markings suggest ancient inhabitants once lived here. Perhaps the oasis is real, and more valuable than we think,” she mused.
