High school was an awful time for people like you. The ones that like to be left alone, who can't stand up for themselves, avoid every bit of socialization. You were a target in school, an easy one to push around and laugh with.

You've changed a few schools already, but after some time, it all just happened over and over again. It was your last year in high school now, so you just counted every day until you could graduate.

This week was a calmer one. The group of girls that usually made your life sour weren't in school. You didn't care why. It just made everything feel peaceful. It was nice to experience going to school without being afraid to walk down the hall or stand by your locker.

You were walking to class now, sitting at one of the tables in the back. The students were talking and waiting for their teacher to start class. Usually, you were able to sit alone, but it was the start of the second trimester, and some new students were in the class. You had thought one of the other quiet girls would sit next to you, but to your surprise, it was Simon.

You didn't talk to him, didn't dare to even look. Just kept sitting close to the wall with your eyes fixed onto the table in front of you. Simon was part of a schools sports club, you didn't remember which one, but he was known for aggression and a short temper. His friends were sometimes seen with the girls that bullied you, hanging around with them in the cafeteria.

The teacher eventually walked into the room, and you've never been more happy to have something to focus on.
