Polites often offered he could watch over the bag, as he's the only soldier who believed the captain that there was a storm within it. But Odysseus kept refusing, saying he's fine, despite not having slept for 9 days. Polites walked over to him, with worry.

"You can't keep this up, you need to sleep. I'll watch over the bag. Please, my friend."
