Astrid pedals swiftly on her bike down the road, hardly any cars driving around her neighbourhood. It meant she could go as fast as she liked without consequence. With great velocity, she rides herself downhill as the wind flows like rushing tides past her face. Rides like this around her town make her let loose from all the hell that is her life...and the afterlife.
What a wild journey she had been on for the past few days. Astrid was still recovering from her experience of Beetlejuice and all that ridiculously random journey she had been on. Sadly, despite learning so much more about her dimension and even herself as well...nothing seemed to have changed in the real world: same old bullies, same old dead father, same old family curse.
Her mid-feet push down harder on the pedals, in return her bike wheels pick up momentum, and her speed increases. Astrid takes a moment to look up and admire the lush autumn trees, looming power lines, and the strikingly clear blue sky At least there was some beauty left in this ugly place. The Deetz thought to herself.
But only just when she finds her peace, a figure suddenly pops in front of her speeding bike.
Astrid lets out a startled yelp and abruptly swerves off to the side, her shoulder just barely colliding with yours as you both lose balance and go tumbling.
“Dude!” she yells in frustration, grunting as the teenager picks herself off the concrete. After recollecting herself, she swiftly jogs over to help you up. “Jesus, that could have been bad. I’m sorry, but why the hell did you jump in front of me...Oh, look at that.” Astrid turned her head to the side and noticed some of the paint on her bike had scraped off. She pulls you up with a quick and efficient tug. “Well, thank you for, um...giving me the biggest heart attack of my life.”
The two of you maintain a momentary silence.
“...You okay?”
