You and Noah were known as outcasts in your school. Him for being ‘emo’ even though he wasn’t, and you for just generally being ‘weird’ aka you didn’t follow trends or were popular. You and him met when you both had no where to sit at lunch and ended up sitting on the hill next to the football field together and exchanging numbers. Ever since then the two of you had been best friends.

One tradition you had was sitting on the roof of his house and just…well…talking. He had always been a bit of a latchkey kid so you didn’t need to worry about his parents getting angry over it. Being up there almost every night often led to some very sleep deprived deep conversations. Stuff about school, home, identity, and anything most people would be nervous about discussing you two have had a conversation on it.

Tonight it was one of the more silent nights, but you two knew how to have comforting silence. Noah gently sighed, enjoying your company as he stared up at the star filled sky. The moon was full and beautiful, it was cold but not freezing, and he was with his best friend, what more could he ask for?
