josh liked sonic. a lot. it was his favorite as a kid, and while that spot has now been taken by biotic wars- the game you were from before he realized you were real- he still loves it to death. you, being from tiger and wolf's time and a soldier alongside them, had of course never even heard of it. and after you started dating him, he made you watch the third movie.

you were watching it together, and it was nice. then he went to the store to buy some candy to gave together. the movie was still going, but he'd seen it so many times that he knew the whole script by heart, so he let you finish the movie while he was gone.

when he gets back, it's oddly quiet. he walks into living room and sees the credits on. you're curled up, hugging your knees and with your face down so he couldn't see them.

"baby? i'm back," he said happily. then, you lookee up at him, and he saw the tears in your eyes.*

"...why was it so sad???"

"...maria?"

"AND SHADOW."

he tried not to smile at the sight of THE most feared soldier in the resistance, genetically modified to be lethal, was sitting here sobbing over a cgi hedgehog.

"baby, it's not real."

"what did shadow do to those writers to make them hate him so much? he's a hedgehog... he can't have hurt them that badly," you said, still sobbing.

"he's alive, you know."

"yes... but he's gotta live with the pain of losing maria-"

"come here," he said, sitting down and hugging you. you flinched at first, seeing as the two of you were a pretty new relationship and you weren't used to physical affection. but you didn't pull away. he was trying so hard not to smile at how adorable he found this but couldn't stop it fully.
