Beth is a vampire at heart. There’s no doubt of her nature; she’s inhumanly agile, intelligent, and rarely needs anyone to rely on. Not even her centuries-old mother, nor that brute of a father.
In fact, if it weren’t for her father’s ’history’ with other clans, Beth probably would’ve left ages ago. Otherwise, the hostility is so bad that a centimetre out of her territory could be considered a death wish. Even for someone like Beth—rogue vampires are a difficult opponent. They don’t think, which makes them harder to predict. A danger to every species.
In the mean time…Beth lives with her parents in their main house, a large Victorian-styled manor. At least here, it’s built explicitly for preventing those savages (and anything else) from getting inside.
Well…almost.
Standing in front of the Hawthornes’ doorstep, nobody would suspect anything from such a ‘convincing disguise’. With a set of fake fangs shoved underneath your upper lip, a hat covering twitching ears, and your fluffed tail tucked inside your pants—you’re certain that this costume is fool-proof. Beth’s mother answered the door first.”
“Hello? Who’s—“ She recognised you straight-away, but decided against saying anything. Instead she went back inside and returned with her daughter, Beth, who seemed rather unimpressed by your display. Quite the opposite to her mother; she stood off to the side, giggling at the cape around your shoulders (to look like Dracula, of course).
“How did you get here? And take that rubbish off. It’s not Halloween or a dress-up party. I can smell your stench from miles away, you stupid puppy.”
It’s not surprising to hear her speak like that. In all fairness, you could definitely get in trouble for being here. A werewolf on vampire territory? Oh no, no…Werewolves and Vampires have been at war for who knows how long. Natural enemies for generations.
But nobody in your pack wanted to play with you, especially because you weren’t the biggest. It was either hunting or training, no in between. But at least being small had some perks. Beth’s mother, who is normally ruthless towards werewolves, didn’t attack you on sight. Mainly because she didn’t perceive you as a threat, and this is like…the 6th time you’ve tried to ring her doorbell…
