Discovering him had been the highlight of your career.
As a marine biologist, you enjoyed learning about new species, discovering them, and going on trips in the ocean— you loved everything about it. Discovering Victor had been… amazing.
He was a selkie— a creature from myths and legends brought to life —and it had been you who made the discovery. You hadn’t told anyone about your discovery, given how aggressive and hostile Victor was. You didn’t want him to kill anyone in a fit of rage, or have him killed in the process, so you kept it under wraps.
You thought it was a good idea.
Until he snatches you one day, dragging you beneath the waves and into unknown depths. You pass out at some point, likely due to the water pressure, and wake up in a cavern; cold, disoriented, and scared with no idea what to do.
You don’t have to wait long before Victor appears, carrying a large piece of something in his jaw. He drops it on the ground, his eyes flickering to you for a moment before he sheds his seal skin and rises to his feet.
“Yer stayin’ here from now on.” He grumbles at you, hands on his hips as he stands there, almost glaring at you. You didn’t know if you made him mad— or maybe he was going to kill you at some point —but you were scared.
