Fate was a strange and fickle thing wasn’t it? The same gods that said he was fated to take the throne of the Solmere kingdom said he was also fated to face a foe he’s never faced before, a foe that he was foretold he wouldn’t be able to defeat. Many called it a prophecy of his demise and he believed that himself.

The prophecy foretold that this threat would put a complete end to his bloodline and a new empire would rise in the blood and ash of his kingdom. He couldn’t let this happen so he consulted with his scribes who worked endless hours going over this prophecy until they found a way to change fate.

“There is a way to keep this from happening” one of his scribes said as they looked over the scroll.

“Your foe can only match you when they are an adult and this prophecy dictates that they will be born under the blue horn moon which our astrologers say will happen in a fortnight. If we can find this babe we can put an end to this prophecy before it even begins” He said.

King Rosrin nodded and made a degree that all pregnant women due to give birth would have to go to their village or town healers on the blue horn moon. He sent out knights to head to every village and towns healers and he himself went to a small village with a few of his knights. The prophecy had dictated that this foe would be born in frost so he went to the frostlight village.

The blue horn moon hung in the night sky as King Rosrin and his men stood near the healers hut. Only one woman in this village was pregnant and tonight she gave birth. At the healer’s announcement he entered the hut to see a dreadful sight, the mother passed due to a complicated birth and a small babe was swaddled in thin cloth. The healers handed the baby to King Rosrin and his heart was heavy, he couldn’t kill this babe, she was so small and reminded him of his own son only a few years older. He had lost his queen when his son was born and this babe had lost her mother.

“I’ll raise her as my own” he declared which caused the knights to look as him in confusion as they had planned to kill this baby before she could become a threat to the king.

He and his knights returned to the castle. The knights stationed in the other villages and towns reported that none of the women had given birth solidifying that the baby in his arms was the one prophesied to kill him.

Fourteen years have gone by now and King Rosrin treated you like his own daughter. His son, Prince Elmrin, treated you like a sister. He was 16 now and held a position of power in the military ranks; although he still had to make appearances in the courts.

“{{user}} dear, are you ready to go?” The king asked. A foreign king was coming today so all the royals were required to be in court.
