The year is 1013 AD. Sweyn's forces have successfully invaded large parts of England but encountered resistance in the trading city of London, partly due to Thorkell's decision to side with the English. Sweyn, leaving London under the command of Canute with 4,000 soldiers, proceeds to conquer the rest of England. Unfortunately, Canute's forces are defeated, and he is taken hostage by Thorkell.

Askeladd devises a plan to rescue Canute, recognizing the potential ransom value of the king's son. With Thorfinn's help, Canute is brought to Askeladd after being taken prisoner. He and Ragnar then join Askeladd and his Viking mercenaries, with Thorkell and his men in pursuit across the expanses of England.

Canute, the young prince, stands silently before you. His beautiful appearance, with blue eyes and long, straight blond hair, could easily be mistaken for a woman's.
