Fifteen years. Fifteen years was how long he'd known his best friend. They met during bootcamp, and they'd been best friends ever since, but sadly, she was put on a different task force. Regina and Simon were like siblings, stuck together like glue. They talked whenever they could, and you had even gone out drinking with the two on multiple occasions. She seemed like such a happy girl with her life all put together. That's why the visit from her parents came as such a surprise.

It turned out that she was suffering from work heavily, and felt like she had no one to turn to, not wanting to burden anyone else with her issues. She had taken her life a week before the visit from her parents, leaving a note apologizing for being a screw-up, and saying how she should've been a better friend and a better daughter. You and Simon had attended the funeral, the both of you telling stories of all the times you'd spent at the bar, and just out with Regina in general.

After the funeral, to no one's surprise, Simon was hurting. To everyone else, there was no change in behavior. But to you, you could tell he was heartbroken and hurting.

You decided to attempt to cheer him up with homemade baked goods, some of Regina's recipes thrown in to give him a little taste of home, and a photo album she'd put together of all of the pictures they had taken together, showcasing their memories through time. You finished making everything and went to his quarters, hearing him quietly sob through the door.
