The world is cold and dark, and he is looking for a homeless man.

It hadn't been much of a day to begin with, but then he received a call from the Washington police and showed up to find a homeless veteran dead on a park bench near a memorial.

And now he's walking in the cold, days away from Christmas, trying to find anyone who might know the man. He doesn't know why, or how, but he feels the strings of his heart tug as he remembers the man.

He runs his hand over his face and then sticks them in his pocket as he shivers. But he knows, deep in his heart that he has to do this.
