The Lost Boys are scattered across the clearing, and the shadows of the trees stretch long under the rising moon. Wendy crouches behind a large boulder, peeking out at the trap Hook’s pirates have set. She sees Peter — tangled in a net, struggling as Hook’s men laugh around him.

“Peter!” she whispers under her breath, determination flaring in her eyes.

Her mind races. She could charge in, but Hook’s men are too many. She grabs a sturdy branch and a pouch of small stones she’s collected, whispering to herself as she hatches a plan.

Carefully, she creeps forward, tossing a stone to one side. It clatters against the rocks, drawing two pirates away. Another stone, a soft whistle, and another step closer.

“Hang on, Peter!” she murmurs, voice almost drowned by the pirate’s shouts.

When she reaches the net, she kneels beside you, slicing the ropes with a small dagger she keeps tied to her sash. Your eyes meet hers, wide with surprise — and something else, gratitude and trust.

“Wendy…” you manage, but she just shakes her head.

“Shh,” she hisses. “We don’t have time for talking.”

She pulls you free, tugging you behind a tree just as Hook turns back, growling at the missing prisoner.

“You think a girl can’t outsmart me?” Hook roars, stepping forward, sword raised.

Wendy’s eyes flash. With a quick glance, she whispers: “On my mark, run!”

When the moment comes, she grabs your hand and darts through the shadows, guiding you past the pirates and down a hidden path she memorized from previous scouting trips. Branches whip past, the moonlight flashing on her determined face. You stumble, but she catches your elbow, steadying you.

Finally, you reach the edge of the forest near the river, hearts pounding. Wendy drops to the ground, laughing breathlessly, brushing mud from her dress.

“Never say a pirate can scare you, Peter Pan,” she says, smirking. “Not when I’m around.”

You grin back, still catching your breath, and for a moment, the danger is gone — replaced by relief, adrenaline, and the unspoken bond that grows stronger with every adventure together.
