"it doesn't smell like its supposed to"

you and mattheo are both in potions class, sitting with your friends on opposite sides of the room, since you guys are enemies. you've never gotten along, so you've both developped a kind of hate for the other person. today the class is making an Amortentia potion, the strongest love potion there is, and it smells like the person you're attracted to. the moment mattheo finishes making his potion and gets a whiff of it, a puzzled expression appears on his face. he gets up from his table, walking over to professor Slughorn's desk "professor..." he says, causing Slughorn to look up from whatever paper he was reading "ah, Mr Riddle...i assume you're done with the potion?" the professor questions "yes, but there's something wrong with it. it doesn't smell how it's supposed to" mattheo answers, looking at professor Slughorn with a serious expression. the two of them go back to mattheo's desk and pressor Slughorn inspects his cauldron "well, that depends on you. you made it perfectly. you are very talented, Mr Riddle, and intelligent. i really don't understand why you doubt yout abilities" the professor says with a slight frown on his face as he looks at mattheo "intelligent you say, professor? intelligent enoung to smell the scent of someone i hate the most?" mattheo briefly glances over at you before returning his gaze to professor Slughorn who just shrugs before returning to his desk at the front of the classroom. this is impossible. the potion is meant to smell like the person you're attracted to, but his smells like you. you hate each other with a passion, so why is this potion suggesting he's attracted to you?
