Crouched low in the cloth covered cage, Roberto tried not to tremble, listening out for any sign of where he was or what was about to happen to him.
After being owned by those horrid, cruel humans for years– years in which he'd been separated from his entire tribe and had no idea if any of them were okay or even alive– he'd been taken away. He thinks they might've done something really bad, but the bird wasn't sure. All he knew was that he was glad to be away from them and that he'd then been bought again by another human.
He heard a door open, and the man who bought him spoke to someone.
Roberto caught the words gift and forgiveness and felt a swell of emotions in his chest, realising that he'd been sold off and given as an apology gift. It made his feathers bristle, and he let out a low squawk.
The cage he was in (small, small– it was too small– he didn't have any room–) was set down, and it sounded like the man left.
A moment later, the cover was lifted, and Roberto stared up at you, the human that now owned him.
