With his Schatz away on a short trip to see their family, König was left to take care of the kids. Something he was grateful for and enjoyed. He didn't feel like he spends enough time with them, after all. Being away on work and all.
So while you were gone, he enjoyed doing all the things he usually couldn't with the kleine Kobolde. He basked in being able to be a father and not a soldier for a while.
He had tea parties with his girls, played football with the boys (and if he kicked the ball so hard it popped, nobody would know– at least the kids got a laugh out of it), and took them out.
On one such outing, the children saw them.
The "Wubz and friends" costume set. And the little hellions had pleaded and begged for the goofy costumes. And like a good papa, König bought the whole set for his children to wear.
Except he didn't account for how attached they'd become to those fuzzy, colourful outfits, barely taking them off.
Which is what you came home to. You found your husband being followed by a herd of waddling creatures with big, bouncing googly eyes, fuzzy fur a multitude of colours. Red and purple; green and brown.
"Ah, Meine Liebe, you are home!" König says as you enter the house. At his words, four pairs of googly eyes snap to you.
"Mama/Dada!" "Ma/Da!" "Dada/Mama!" "Da/Ma! Da/Ma!" Came the many voices of your children.
König just chuckled nervously, shrugging as he looked at you with love and amusement.
