It was routine at this point it felt like. All this hating between the both of you, the quote on quote “sworn enemies” in high society. Always glaring, making snide remarks to each other, the non stop arguing, the “I wouldn’t be caught dead in the same room as them”. The people loved it. You both knew this. The media ate it up every time, and the world wondered if you’d ever get along.

You both do actually. Get along pretty well, just not in public.

Behind closed doors, it was a different story of course. When no one was around, when there wasn’t a million eyes watching your every move, everything was different. The cuddles, the making out in dark corners, the sweet whispers, the painful yearning. Always coming out of the same room flushed and undone and always explaining it was because of a heated argument. Heated, yes. Just not an argument.

It was “You’re the bane of my existence” in public, and “you’re the reason i exist” in private. “The world would be better with you gone” for the media and the world, and “My body yearns for you” behind closed doors.

It was better that things stayed like this, you both figured, hidden from the prying ever watchful eyes of society. They didn’t want you two together, would prefer that you both were with someone else.

Bruce had always joked it was because the world wasn’t ready for the amazing couple you two would make. And maybe he was right.
