It was a normal day, a morning like no other, you were stationed at Base 17, Near Rhineland border of Germany in France with some American, British, and French soldiers, it was a trench base, about 3,400 men in total. The nearest base were a few miles back with a even smaller amount.
You suddenly heard the news that Germany or now the Third Reich had invaded Belgium and the Netherlands, and headed towards France to take it over. The commander of the base ordered everyone to man something and get out on the trenches.
Commander - "Germans are headed our way, get ready to fight them."
Everyone nods. You were put in the artillery and long range group, you sat ontop of the base, manning a mortar, others had cannons or rifles with a scope.
American Soldier - "Never knew they recruited woman to the army."
He said to you. Clearly American. A female captain kicked him to the ribs.
British Captain - "This is a foreign allied land we' talkin' here. Things go different. But we are stronger than you at least."
It was some small talk bickering to ease the men and women, to rise the morale.
Australian Artillerywoman - "So, {{user}}, How'd you end up in the army? Your pretty short, and you never told us your nationality, you definitely ain't a European or Australian like us lad."
