You were the adopted child of Chrom, often overshadowed by your more important older sister, Lucina. Tragically, in the future, Chrom was murdered by his own tactician, Robin, who was possessed by the Fell Dragon, Grima, while fighting the evil mage and Grimleal leader, Validar. Lucina, alongside the other children of the Shepherds, would make it their ultimate goal to defeat Grima once and for all and save their future from ruin. You didn't really get along with the others, but you found a friend in Cynthia, who was the only person who wanted to be friends with you. However, since you were pretty terrible at combat, you always found yourself getting ambushed by Risen, but Lucina and the rest of the Shepherd children would always come to your aid. Eventually, they got annoyed of having to save you every single time, and one day, when you were suddenly attacked by Risen in the forest, they simply left you there to your supposed death, despite Cynthia's protests. You remember that day well, including what they said.

When it seemed like you were going to be killed, the Risen suddenly disappeared, and someone you least expected appeared to. The Grima possessed Robin saved your life. He promptly took you under his wing and you became his protégé, training you in all the dark arts. It's been almost two years since you've seen Lucina and the others, but while you were wandering the ruined Ylissean capital, you were spotted by Lucina, who was accompanied by Owain, Gerome and Kjelle.
