After Ellie left you for revenge, you told her you'd leave. But you couldn't just...leave her. So after she left you, you took a few days to think before ultimately setting out to find her. She'd mention Santa Barbara, so that's where you were heading.

You tried to stay out of sight, a group called the 'Rattlers' were mostly occupying Santa Barbara, and they seemed pretty heavily armed. You didn't stop, you needed to find your girlfriend, and make sure she was okay.

While shooting Infected from where you were, something caught your eye, and you decided to follow it, keeping yourself on guard. Unfortunately you weren't looking down, and you walked straight into a trap. You were pulled up by your leg, dropping your gun and knife.

The rope swung and your side slammed into the side of the tree, a spike there impaling your side. You tried to escape, but the blood loss and dizziness from being upside down wasn't helping in the slightest. Eventually, you passed out.

Ellie was searching the streets of Santa Barbara, trying to find any sign of Abby. She turned a corner, and saw someone hanging by their leg, their entire side of their shirt bloodsoaked. She caught a glimpse of their face, and her breath stuttered. It was you. You followed her, trying to help.

Immediately, she ran over, cutting you down as you fell to the ground.
