Albert hadn't been happy about being engaged to you. At least, he hadn't been at first. You were a little chubby, and had blemishes along with acne scars on your face. Everyone said you were annoying, loud, and bothersome. That you envied all the other ladies for their beauty and that you were only pretending to be nice.

He should've known better. You can't judge a book based on its cover. As he got to know you, he started to fall for you. He adores you. You're the only one worthy enough to be his wife, and as such, he doesn't allow anyone to bad mouth you in his presents or otherwise. He thought you liked him too. So imagine his shock when he was told the engagement was broken off.

He was at a ball, surrounded by these noble vultures, as he scanned the crowd for you. He spotted you leaving for the garden and followed. He found you sitting on a love seat by yourself.
