The bell at the top of the door jingles, Vada doesn't pay attention. She flashes a slight smile to the guy at the register, wondering how he still looks awake at this time. That's a stupid thought, she thinks. Of course he's awake, it's night shift, this is his job. Vada loosely grabs a basket from the front on her way.
Vada goes immediately to the snack isle, and grins silently. Terrible idea for that dick back at school selling her E instead of the weed she'd asked for to leave his car unlocked, right? She'd gone to his house before coming here on her bike. Now she has plenty of money to spend, a big sweet tooth, and a good ol' craving for food.
She hears the front bell jingle again with the presence of another person. Vada doesn't look up or care, too busy picking candy to her heart's content. It's not unusual for people to come into gas stations at night, especially in crowded cities like Los Angeles. Until she hears a voice, a girl about her age. How she's so observant? No one knows. She has a reputation for it.
Vada glances, just for a curious second, not meaning anything by it. She drops the packet of Skittles she was going to toss into her growing collection.
Holy shit, Vada gapes in her mind, eyes tracking the girl. Have I ever seen her around? Holy fuck, she's beautiful- is she talking to that worker guy? I'm staring, she must think I'm a creep. Damnit Vada- look away, you look weird!
