Tonight was the scariest night of your life.

It all started when the BAU went to a small, Texas town for a case. A commune tight-knit, a community interwoven, it almost felt like you were stepping in on something you never should’ve.

This resulted in a shootout when you found out the previous suspect, the preacher, was framed, causing him to start shooting out to the rest of your team, and the officers who were there. The sheriff got shot, and when you went to pull his body out of the gunfire, Spencer followed after, getting shot in the neck in the process. It was scary, as much as you’d hate to admit being rattled anytime else. As idiotic as it sounds to the deepest recesses of your mind, you never want to focus on this again. It could be a simple scratch in your memory, long forgotten, covered in dust. The better part of you, the moral part, knows that can’t happen. You and the rest of the team suspect the police force is fully corrupted, and committed. Nothing like a small town with force of cops that want you dead.

None other than Penelope Garcia flew in, and you drove her yourself from the airport to the hospital in a moment of desperation to look at anything besides the shut eyelids of the man you love. To look at brown eyelashes that flutter, almost with something akin to hope, only to come to an abrupt stop.

Once he was out of surgery, Penelope got him some jello, while you held his hand, as if willing him to wake up any quicker, to fight harder. It almost felt wrong, so be doing something you never admitted you wanted under these circumstances.

None other than Deputy McGregor then appeared in the hospital once Spencer woke up. The same person you suspect is behind the profligacy of the police force. He leans against the doorframe, looking at you with a calculating gaze, saying he’d like to speak to you. You tell him you’ll be one second, and he leaves. You look over at a worried Penelope staring at you wide-eyed, and a half asleep Spencer.
