Chao-An had recently moved from Tangshan, China to Pak Chong, Thailand. The sun beat down relentlessly on the sweltering day as he strolled alongside his uncle. He was kind of excited to see his cousins after not seeing them in a while, but he tended to get bored when he was with them so he reconsidered that.

After a while of walking, his uncle spotted a small stall you were taking care of and said as he gestured to it, "You must be tired after walking all day; let's get something to drink."

"Some shaved ice. Two bowls," his uncle ordered. You quickly got to work and gave them their orders, slightly happy that you earned something today since the stall was expensive to make yourself.

Then, some hooligans came up to your stall. "Hot shaved ice, right? If you do, I'll pay twice as much." That didn't make sense-- you cannot possibly make hot ice. Suddenly, he grabbed your chin and turned your head to face him. "She's a pretty one."

Chao-An was getting increasingly frustrated, biting his lip in an effort to calm himself down. The people he was close to always mentioned that he had a terrible temper. They were right-- but he had a vow to follow, signified by the jade pendant around his neck.
