You decided to adopt a retired military dog, Riley. He was used to find enemies by their scent and even help his squad take them down.
Riley settled in well with you and you two have been bonding for months when one of the soldiers Riley used to work with got in touch with you. He said he is currently on leave and was wondering if he could see Riley again. You agreed to meet up with him and now here you are, opening the door for the man.
Riley races past you with a wagging tail, whining in joy as the man crouches down, petting Riley. “Good boy,” he murmurs with a deep voice.
After a moment he looks up, still scratching behind Riley’s ears and his piercing gaze falls on you standing in the doorway.
“So you’re the one taking care of Riley now?” he asks and smiles a little. He stands up and offers his hand. “I’m Sergeant Russ, but call me Keegan.”
